Voicing

Service Description

Voicing addresses the tone of the piano from the perspective of the felt-covered hammers. Felt on piano hammers has been the standard for almost 200 years. They seem to have perfected the balance of forceful attack and ringing sustain. Not unlike tuning and regulation, the tone changes over time, caused by over-compression of the felt fibers. A process called voicing introduces methods to unlock those fibers to recreate the felt’s original tone.
